From 4–8 October 2026, Swisscham Hungary welcomed a delegation of Swiss automotive industry representatives for a fact-finding mission jointly organised with Swissmem, Switzerland Global Enterprise and Swiss Business Hub Central Europe, in cooperation with the Hungarian Investment Promotion Agency (HIPA).
The intensive programme took participants from Debrecen through Kecskemét to Budapest, offering exclusive insights into Hungary’s rapidly developing automotive industry. The delegation visited leading manufacturers and suppliers, including BMW, CATL, Sensirion, Mercedes-Benz, Knorr-Bremse, Phoenix Mecano, Bosch and AUMOVIO, and met representatives of BYD. Behind-the-scenes factory tours provided valuable opportunities to experience advanced manufacturing technologies first-hand and exchange views with industry leaders.
Meetings with HIPA, MAGE and BME Automotive LAB offered further perspectives on Hungary’s investment environment, industrial capabilities and innovation potential. The programme also included a reception hosted by Alexander Renggli, Ambassador of Switzerland to Hungary, bringing together delegation participants, Swisscham members and key stakeholders.
The mission highlighted Hungary’s significant potential as an automotive manufacturing and innovation hub, while creating valuable connections and identifying opportunities for future Swiss-Hungarian business cooperation. It also demonstrated the important role of Swisscham Hungary in connecting Swiss companies with local industry players and supporting new business partnerships.
