Swiss-Hungarian Business Talks in Pécs: Circular Economy for a Sustainable Future

Our business event “Swiss-Hungarian Business Forum” took place in Pécs on October 4, within the framework of the Swiss Days, coorganized with the Embassy of Switzerland in Hungary. The event’s main theme was “Circular economy for a sustainable future” and it was held in the city’s Zsolnay Quarter.

Guests of the forum were welcomed by Dr. István Béres, President of Swisscham Hungary, Attila Péterffy, Mayor of Pécs, and Jean-Francois Paroz, Ambassador of Switzerland to Hungary.

Following the introductory presentation on sustainability by Irén Márta, Director of BCSDH, participants were informed about the projects of the Swiss-Hungarian Cooperation Programme in the fields of sustainability and health. The Cleantech exhibition on Swiss technologies provided an opportunity to see innovatívé business solutions during the break.

Afterwards, we had two roundtable discussions, the first panel included representatives of Roche Hungary and the University of Pécs, the second panel included representatives of Holcim Hungary Ltd, Kontakt Elektro Ltd. and the University of Pécs, who shared valuable information about what sustainability means to them and what they forsee in their operations to achieve sustainability goals.

After lunch, the guests had the opportunity to visit the factory of Holcim Hungary Kft. in Királyegyháza.

The highlight of the day was an elegant gala dinner, where Roche Hungary presented the cooperation agreement with the University of Pécs, which was signed in the presence of Minister Tibor Navracsics during a gala event. The evening also featured a performance by Swiss Alpine horn players, a local dance group and the award ceremony of the cake competition organised by the Swiss-rooted confectioner Caflisch in Pécs.

The Swiss Days in Pécs offered a wide range of cultural, educational and gastronomic programs for all interested participants.
